Day Four: The Pope's Room

This is me at Bucca di Beppo in the Pope's Room.  It's a great place to celebrate your birthday with friends!  Personally I am a big fan of the Veal Piccatta, but since it's all served family style, you really need a few people to enjoy this restaurant properly.  Also, if you're like me and only have one suit to wear, you want to make good use of your napkin as a bib.  Italian food can be SO messy!

Day Three: They say it's your birthday!

Here I am with the Muhlenberg statue at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.  It is a tradition for the students to decorate the statue on opening day, graduation and other glorious occasions.  Unfortunately, due to inclement weather they weren't able to spruce up the statue for my birthday on Tuesday.  Too much rain!  But Wednesday the sculpture was festooned with mardi gras beads and rain ponchos.  My buddy Rachel created this vignette with her computer magic.  Don't you just love it!

Day Two. Trappe

Here I am in Trappe.  (The second p and the e are silent.)

From 1776 to 1787 the original Henry Muhlenberg lived in Trappe, Pennsylvania.  You can still visit his house and other colonial places in the area.

You may think I look a little nervous in this picture, rest assured, I'm fine.  I just didn't want the photographer to get me too close to that well.  Sometimes her hand isn't all that steady and I don't swim.  I float pretty well, but I really prefer dry land.

Day One: Henry in Chapel

Dear Friends-

I begin this year long journey with some fear and trepidation.  Where am I going?  What will I do?  Who will I meet?  Will my hair stand up to all this rainy weather?

I have decided to chronicle my adventures in this blog.  It will take a year but I am only committed to blogging 300 photos.  (Even the sturdiest of figurines need a day off from time to time!)

I have begun my journey at the place where many good adventures have begun-  the font at the Schaeffer-Ashmead Chapel at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.   They are celebrating the 300th Birthday of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, for whom I am named. (For more about that, go to LTSP.edu.)

That's it for now!  Thanks to today's photographer Rachel M.

Yours truly,
Henry
